Project Description
More than just technical showcases, demos were also artistic statements, filled with music, animations, and elaborate visual effects. Usually done by high school students, they were often created with a sense of rebellious artistry. Today, the demoscene is recognized for its contributions to digital art and programming, influencing everything from video game development to the modern digital arts community. To preserve and showcase these technical pieces of art, it was decided to add them as an eXo project.
The eXoDemoScene project consists of 1,818 demos originating from over 41 different countries and released from 1987 through mid-1997. The demos can be sorted in the front end in several ways (by year, country, party, specific release group, type, etc.), helping you find the demos that interest you. In addition, a playlist of eXo staff favorites has been provided to assist in your journey of discovery.
The project also includes some amazing documentaries about the scene that are worth checking out.

Technical Information
While we have tried to make certain all demos are configured automatically, if you run into a demo that needs to know your system configuration, please use the following:
- For sound, where possible, use the Gravis Ultrasound. Unless otherwise stated, it is configured by default at base 240, IRQ 5, and DMA 3.
- If Gravis Ultrasound is not an option, use the SoundBlaster Pro or standard SoundBlaster. Unless otherwise stated, it is configured by default at base 220, IRQ 7 and DMA 1.
Please let us know about any issues you encounter on our Discord server.
